Faculty Information

General information for faculty of Emmanuel College regarding the policies and practices of the Shaw-Leslie Library.

Faculty may place personal materials and/or library materials on reserve for student use. Materials are kept on reserve for the semester unless specified otherwise. At the end of the semester, personal items will be returned to the instructor. Library items will be placed back in regular circulation.

For placing personal materials on reserve, please come to the circulation desk or see Deborah Millier or Beth Cochran.

RESERVES CIRCULATION

All reserve materials are library use only.

SUBMITTING ITEMS FOR RESERVES

Faculty have the opportunity each semester to place materials on Reserve. Faculty are encouraged to submit requests at least three days prior to the start of the semester. Requests received after this time are processed as quickly as possible in the order received.

Please provide all information requested on the Reserve request form; complete title, author and/or call numbers for books. Personal copies of books or photocopied material will be placed under the faculty person's name on the Reserve shelf.

 

COPYRIGHT INFORMATION

The Shaw-Leslie Library makes every attempt to respect the Boundaries of the Fair Use Clause of Copyright Law. At the request of the instructor, we are able to scan ONE article from an issue of a journal or ONE chapter from a book, provided that the material does not comprise a significant proportion of the work. Please note that the Library does not take responsibility for copyright clearance or permissions for material placed on Course Reserve.

  

What May and May not be placed on Reserve

Items that may be placed on reserve include most Emmanuel College Library materials, personal copies of books and periodicals, and photocopies (subject to certain restrictions).

We will not place the following categories of items on reserve:

  • Interlibrary Loan materials
  • Books from other libraries
  • Rented copies of audio or video recordings
  • EC Archive materials
