Doing Research in the Shaw-Leslie Library

This guide includes general information about using the Shaw-Leslie Library and locating resources for research.

One of the best places to begin your research is in our library catalog. Our books are organized according to Dewey Decimal, so look for the call number to locate your items. Look for any letters preceding a number. These identify specific collections:

  • R - reference items, located on the first floor
  • CL - children's literature, located on the second floor
  • YA - young adult books, located on the second floor
  • MS - music scores, located on the first floor next to reference
  • CD - CDs, located on the first floor next to reference
  • DVD - DVDs located on the first floor next to the elevator

To access eBooks, you will need to be logged into GALILEO. EBooks can be read online or offline.

Interlibrary Loan supports the teaching and research of faculty, students and staff associated with Emmanuel University by obtaining materials not available at the Shaw-Leslie Library.

Before submitting an Interlibrary Loan request for a book, please check our catalog to see if we have the title in print or as an eBook.

For requesting a book that is not in our catalog, please include as much information as you can on our ILL form. Books usually require 10 working days to arrive.
